SUMMER STEALS

Hello Chimacum Corner Community!

Ladies and gentleman we have officially launched into HIGH SUMMER. Hot winds out of the north and burn bans are in effect. The farmers are pulling their garlic so they can plant their fall sets. The Farm Hacks softball team has posted back to back W’s and are riding high heading into the dog days. The zucchini elongates by the hour. High summer at CCF means cherries, melons, corn, basil, fresh culinary lavender, and more! Heirloom tomatoes and Hermistons are just around the bend. High summer also means its time for us to offer the community great deals on plant starts to clear out the greenhouse! Our overstock can be your gain. Next time you come, take a detour through the Nursery and see everything that the staff has been working hard to put together for y’all. Everybody’s still got one little patch of soil that could use an above-ground companion. Tack a few more fireworks of blooms into the garden on us. Stay cool out there Chimacum!

SUMMER STEALS

The sun never sets on the Chimacum Corner Nursery discount zone! The Nursery team has been working hard to put together a suite of plants that offer a significant deal to all our beloved gardeners out there. Scope the racks for the chance to get some late season additions in at some sweet price points. It is also last call for Red Dog plant starts, and all the starts remain $1 off their normal price. If you want to go massive on savings, our potted Sequioas are 25% off as well. These amazing creatures need to find their forever homes, and pronto! Help our owner Phil achieve his goal of re-wilding the peninsula with mature old growth forests by getting one of these elegant behemoths in the ground ASAP!

EARFULS N MOUTHFULS

Nothing says heat wave like grillin’ corn and slicin’ melons. Organically Grown has come through with impeccable timing with some summer heavyweights: Brentwood Corn and Black Seedless Watermelons! The California melons are in peak form, and Brentwood is known for generating the sweetest of ears, due to its hot days and relatively cooler nights, being between the Bay Area and Stockton. Our fearless corn ninja Aaron of the Produce Department has been wielding his vegetable katana tirelessly to provide you with some high quality ears for the big weekend.

CHERRY CASES

We are still flush in 5lb and 20lb cases of Tonnemaker Hill Farm red cherries. We blew through Bings (thank you Chimacum!), and are thick with luscious, dark Skeenas. We also have special limited quantities of Montmorency Pie Cherries from Tonnemakers, and they will be adding the coveted Rainiers to the cornucopia this weekend as well! We are getting “so pitted” out on the porch it is out of control! :)

SPUD DOCTOR

Nothing says the first weekend of July quite like potato salad. He’s the upstanding wingman to all those swarthy burgers and dogs out there. The Corner Kitchen has some batched out for folks on the go and travelin’ souls. Not your granny’s mayo madness, this salad is aromatically herbaceous from the fresh dill and chunky Britt’s pickles, and the sauce is light to let the lil baby potatoes shine. Get it while we got it!

CHILL GRILLABLES

We got all your grilling needs on lock at the Corner. Local ground beef is courtesy of Flying Knucklehead Ranch, who get the prize for best local farm name. Their patties are sure to shine on any bun, though we do have some great buns from Pane D’Amore which we highly suggest. If beef franks are more your style, we carry the 3 Sisters Family Farm franks. Did you know that 3 Sisters is a 6th generation farm on Whidbey, est. 1910? Talk about a pedigree. They also have their own Market which is open seven days a week, and they do bulk meat purchasing of beef, pork, or lamb at very reasonable prices for grass-fed, grass-finished. The hot dogs are just the tip of the iceberg over at 3 Sisters. So fire up the charcoal and get some hot coals rollin’! (We recently hear that 3 Sisters is loosing their co-packing with Hemplers, we’re bummed to hear this, so support them while you can!)

PROTECT YA NECK

The whole line of Badger skin protection / suncare products are a great deal on this current cycle! Badger is on the cutting edge of environmental business ethics, and is also a multi-generational family owned company a la 3 Sisters. One of the first companies to bring mineral sunscreens to the marketplace, they have since expanded their product line and have around 100 products in 15 countries.  Both the Adventure and the Sport sunscreens are great for farmers, watermen, lumberjacks, and all manner of outdoor professionals. And if you miss the sunscreen one day, there is always the Lily of the Desert aloe to take the sting off! Come check out our deals and save big on summer skincare!
