FLYING HIGH WITH PRIDE
Hello Chimacum Corner Community!
In Northwest farming, there is a concept called “the June gap,” which refers to that moment when a farmer has spent all of their early spring crops, while there is still nothing to harvest from all the newly planted summer hot crops. Much attention is paid to try to fill the gap, and shorten the low-yield window before July, August, and the full bounty of September. Yet at the Corner, it feels like summer has already exploded. A double miracle of Tonnemaker “Benton” strawberries coupled with some shots of local deliveries has got everyone “berried out” to the max. The latest fruit-news is a whisper of Tonnemaker cherries before the fourth of July! Make no mistake, we love all of our fruits down at the Corner. So if you’re feeling blue, orange, green, or just plain violet, come on down to the Corner for some good cheer, and remember, as Kacey Musgraves reassures us, “Darlin’ I’m just tryin’ to tell ya, that there’s always been a rainbow hangin’ over your head.”
BE TRUE TO YOUR SCHOOL
Pride month is a perfect forum to showcase your Chimacum Corner pride alongside your personal expression. From onesies to hoodies, there’s something for anyone in the Merch Rack at the corner. The hoodies are high-quality, seriously soft, and feel broken in upon first wear. We also have several t-shirt styles, including the fan favorite Nursery-themed long sleeve. Then, of course, there is also the classic CCF trucker hat, or the cloth “dad hat,” which have been donned by many a Jefferson County farmer over the years. And don’t forget our iconic “Euro” bumper sticker, featuring Turnip’s birdly mug! Much ado about merching, to be sure.
SUGAR FOR YOUR TANK
Summon your inner Julien Baker / TORRES musical collab as you sink into a delicious, indulgent gluten-free peanut butter chocolate chip cookie from the Corner Kitchen! This cookie was made for sneaking in to honky tonks in your purse, then munchin’ while you sway to the two-step tunes. Or better yet, take some down to all your friends at the Country Queers Variety Show at PT Pride, hosted by local legends Bobby4Bobby and which is rumored to include one of our very own CCF staff! ;)
SKITTLES, PLANT THE RAINBOW
The Corner Nursery is awash in bloomers both annual and perennial! In fact there’s enough abundance and variety to “paint with all the colors of the wind” so to speak. We thought it would be fun to compile a list of plants currently available in-house to round out the entire ROY G. BIV spectrum. Check out our list and build your own kaleidoscope of hues!

CALIFORNIA GIRLS
We’ve got some killer new products on the “dry wall” of the fruit-side of our Produce Porch that we are eager to share with you. The first is a luscious 2lb box of Medjool Dates from Rancho Meladuco Date Farm. Woman-owned and relatively new (est. 2015), Rancho Meladuco is known for their “hand-picked, hand-packed” signature 2lb boxes, and even have a satellite store in Costa Mesa, California. The produce team was able to get a sample box, and it basically evaporated. Pick up a box and taste what all the hype is about. It also makes a great gift, the packaging is very cali-farm-cute. Secondly, but no second fiddle, we have brought in a delicious line of packaged nuts from Braga Organic Farms. The core of Braga is their 40 acres of pistachio trees, and their Pistachio Kernels are insane, perfect by the handful or as a tasty salad topper for your fresh local greens. Brendon O’Shea of Organically Grown says it is one of his top pick products in the entire catalog of OGC. They also pack other nuts, and the most cadillac bag is the Pacific Coast Blend, which contains roasted and salted pistachios, almonds, cashews, and pecans, all 100% certified organic. We salute the California kings raising up high quality produce and distributing it out to vast expanses, including our little slice of rural Washingtonian heaven. These two “Cali Girls” are the perfect back-seat drivers for your next cruise on the 101.
PT PRIDE
CCF is proud to be a contributing sponsor to the 2025 Port Townsend Pride event hosted by The Production Alliance. Popping off at Pope Marine Park all day (10:45-4:00) Saturday June 7th, with auxiliary programming over the weekend as well (Films with Pride), it is sure to be a scene down on Water Street this weekend. Get on out there and celebrate with all your friends and fam, dig the music, cheer on the performers, and support all the wonderful local vendors showing up in community. It’s a short downhill walk from the Port Townsend Farmers Market to Pope Marine, so get your glitter on a little early and get some healthy early summer snacks at market too before you party! Wahoo!
